Stuckey Ford Hosts Volunteer Fire Departments for Electric Vehicle Safety Training

April 9th, 2024 by

On Thursday, March 28th, Stuckey Ford will host eight local volunteer fire departments for on-site electric vehicle training.  Firefighters from Geeseytown Community Fire Co., Phoenix Fire Dept., Duncansville Fire Co., Lakemont Fire Dept., Williamsburg Fire Dept., Excelsior Fire Dept. (Bellwood), Allegheny Township Fire Dept., and Logan Township United Fire Dept. will examine select Ford electric vehicle models to become more familiar with alternative fuel vehicles and develop safety and rescue techniques related to immobilization, extrication, and occupant rescue.  Stuckey Ford EV-certified sales and service professionals will be available to review battery technology, management systems, and advanced computer systems.

With increased production and availability of EV models, including electric school buses and transit buses, emergency responders need training resources to prepare to safely manage incidents and potential risks involving EVs.  The training will help first responders safely address techniques related to immobilization, extrication, occupant rescue, fires, and personal protective equipment.
